Southern Arizona

Travelling from Phoenix, drive to Prescott which is a charming historic town nestled in the beautiful landscape of The Granite Dells. Payson is close to immense stands of pine, numerous lakes and streams. You can experience a diverse range of canyons, woodlands and lakes in Sitgreaves National Forest while driving to Alpine (‘The Alps of Arizona’). Driving south to Safford is a route called ‘The Coronado Trail’, known as the ‘White Knuckle Road’ it meanders through the impressive scenery of eastern Arizona. After sampling the wild west history of Tombstone travel to Tucson via San Pedro Riparian Conservation Area with it’s wide variety of birds, mammals and reptiles. North to Globe on the edge of Tonto National Forest a town with strong links to Arizona’s past where you can browse antique and gift shops. The drive then takes you west back to Phoenix and The Valley of the Sun
