Nova Scotia A Taste

The proximity of Nova Scotia to the UK makes it great for a short break as well as a more relaxed and extended stay. With Halifax closer to the UK than to Vancouver on the west coast, direct flights average under 5½ hours from London; similar to the eastern Mediterranean. The sparse population, under 1 million people in an area 2½ times the size of Wales (pop 3m), means there is space to relax and outside of Halifax little traffic. This introduction to the charms and culture of Nova Scotia takes in Halifax, and then the Lighthouse Route to the historic town of Lunenburg. Cross the peninsula to the Bay of Fundy and then east to Cape Breton Island via Pictou, with its Scottish heritage. Return to Halifax along the southern Marine Drive for an evening flight.
