Nova Scotia In Depth

After time exploring Halifax follow the southern shoreline east via Salmon River Bridge to Cape Breton Island and Dundee overlooking Bras d’Or Lakes. Then across the Island or via the National Historic Site of Louisbourg (90 mile detour) joining the Cabot Trail and the Highlands National Park. Back west along the Sunrise Trail via Pictou to Tatamagouche on the Northumberland Strait. Across the Isthmus of Chignecto taking in the tidal bore on the Shubenacadie River caused by the the world’s highest tides and on to Wolfville near to Cape Blomidon and the Acadian town of Grand  Pre. On to Digby famed for scallops and whale watching and then around the coast to Shelburne. Follow the Lighthouse Trail to Mahone Bay and Oak Island with a detour to the Kejimkujik National Park. Then along the bays and inlets of the south shore to Halifax.
